The UK’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DSMS) has released a policy review that lays out the government’s plan to help ensure the consumer Internet of Things (CIoT) addresses security and privacy concerns.
Alongside the policy review, the department has also published a summary review of industry recommendations and international developments on IoT security.
As IoT devices become a more pervasive component of everyone’s life, it is important that a robust framework exists to protect consumers from poorly executed technologies for products, including baby monitors, dashboard cameras, and smart door locks.
The phrase “government initiative” often sends shudders down one’s spine. Let’s hope that, in this case, UK government pulls off another viral success, like ITIL.
